The Puketi Forest Trust is an incorporated Charitable Trust that was formed in 2003 and formally launched in October at the forest. The Puketi Forest Trust is guided by its founding document which sets out its purpose to restore wildlife to Puketi Forest and raise the perception and the value of the forest in the collective consciousness of the community.
Specifically, the trust has been established as a partnership between Iwi, the Community, and the Department of Conservation (DoC) in order to:
The Puketi Forest Trust and Department of Conservation, Bay of Islands Area Office are committed to working in partnership toward the restoration of Puketi Forest and its native species therein. A strong and effective partnership between these agencies is a vital tool in the restoration of the forest.
