Each summer on the last Saturday in January the Puketi Forest Trust holds its Puketi  Challenge day walk This 21 or 12 km walk through the beautiful Puketi Forest 

is a fund-raising event and also showcases the work the trust does and to give walkers a chance to see parts of the forest normally difficult to access.
